Our story

About the shop

We're a local, independent bike shop built around a love for cycling and straightforward service — not online trends or corporate marketing.

Inside Alf's Cycles bike shop in Whitstable
Who we are

A shop that genuinely cares

Alf's Cycles started with a simple idea: that people deserve honest advice when buying a bike. No pushy sales, no overcomplicating things — just real guidance from people who ride.

We focus on quality and personal service. Every customer walks out knowing they've made the right choice for them, not the right choice for our margins.

We're proud to be part of the Whitstable community, serving riders of all levels — from first-time buyers to seasoned cyclists.

What drives us

Our values

Everything we do comes back to these principles. They're not just words on a wall — they're how we run the shop every single day.

Honest advice

We'll tell you what you actually need, not what costs more. If a cheaper option is right for you, we'll say so.

No pressure

Come in, browse, ask questions, and leave without buying anything if you want. We're here to help, not to sell.

Quality work

Every bike we sell or service is something we'd be proud to put our name to. We don't cut corners.

Community first

We're part of Whitstable and we care about it. We'd rather have a great local reputation than chase volume.

How we work

Whether you're coming in for a repair or a new bike, you'll always get the same level of care. We take time to understand what you need, and we explain what we're doing and why.

Most assessments and minor repairs are done while you wait right in-store. We believe in transparency — you'll always know what's happening with your bike.
